Study-related internship

An internship offers many advantages for an employer. In addition to the actual help provided by the intern, the company often benefits from the apprenticeship relationship. After all, it is beneficial for both sides to be able to learn from one another. A job-related internship serves to acquire practical professional knowledge, skills and experience relating to the theoretical content acquired in the subject.

Study-related internships for foreign students can last from 3 to 12 months.

The following aspects must also be taken into account:

          FAQS

Here you can find answers for freqently asked questions.
  • What requirements do we have to meet as a company if we want to take on an intern?

The interns complete subject-related internships and in most cases these are prescribed by the educational institution. You also need to be able to identify required knowledge. An instructor's license or a recognized company is not required.

  • How long does the processing normally take before arrival?

It is always good to plan early, but expect at least 2-6 months. Applicants must also make an appointment at the German embassy and apply for a visa. Only then are they allowed to arrive.

  • What are the conditions for accepting an apprentice from abroad?

The Vocational Training Act stipulates, among other things, which requirements the company and the persons responsible for training in the company must meet. In addition, the rights and obligations of trainees and trainers are laid down here. The same also applies to trainees from abroad.

  • Do the trainees from abroad also have to attend school?

Yes. But there is also the possibility of exemption from school if they are over 21 years old and have a recognized high school diploma. But they have to be able to pass the exams, which of course is difficult without attending school.

  • Can the trainees from abroad start their training at any time or are there fixed dates?

Usually the training starts in August or September. However, no start date is required by law.

  • What are the costs for us?

    For interns:

  • What happens to the applicant if we just don't fit together as a human being?

You have a trial period of 1 month for interns and a maximum of 4 months for trainees. However, the termination must be amicable so that we can secure a new place for applicants. They come in a completely foreign country and we ask you not to make a decision quickly.
